Description
This building is a barn and stables located about 30 metres east of Upper Blackstone Farmhouse. It dates from the late 18th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. The structure is built of brick on a stone plinth, topped with a tile roof. It has an L-plan layout, with the barn extending south and the stables to the west.
The east front features a dentilled brick cornice and hit-and-miss ventilators. There are two cart entries, one with a segmental head on the left and the other with a basket arch on the right. A circular pitching hole is present in the north gable, along with four 20th-century brick buttresses. The stable range is lower and includes a loft over the stables. On the north front of the stable range, there is a central full-height entrance with a 20th-century metal door.
