Description
These stables, located about 15 metres south-west of Great Knighton Farmhouse, date from the early 18th century and early 19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. They are constructed of brick and topped with a tile roof. The building has six roof bays running east to west, with the three bays on the east being the older section.
On the north front, the left half features a band at both the ground floor and first floor, along with a dentilled brick cornice. There are two entrances with stable doors, and above these, to the right, is a loft door. The ground floor has three small segmentally-headed windows. The right half has three entrances, with the central one blocked, and two segmentally-headed windows at the ground floor. On the first floor, there is a loft door to the left and an entrance at the right corner, which is accessed by a flight of brick and stone steps. The stables are included for their group value with the farmhouse.
