Description
No. 17 Broad Street is a house in a row, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with later remodels in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a plain tile roof with two inserted roof dormers, brick dogtooth eaves, and an off-ridge brick stack.
The building has two storeys and an attic, with a single-window range. The dormers are gabled and contain 20th-century two-light casements with barge-boards. On the left side, there is an added two-storey canted bay window with a pitched leaded roof and a combination of 1/1, 2/2, and 1/1 sash windows. The doorcase on the right features pilasters, decorative brackets that support a cornice and pitched leaded hood, a fanlight with radial glazing bars, and a six-panel door. The house also has plinth courses. The interior has not been inspected.
