Description
No. 9 Broad Street is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with some yellow bricks, laid in Flemish bond. The roof is made of plain tiles and features a central brick pediment that includes part of the brick dogtooth eaves course, with shared brick stacks at each end.
The building has three storeys and a cellar, with a three-window range. The first floor has boxed sash windows with painted channelled voussoirs, keystones, and sills, featuring 8/8 sashes flanking a central 6/6 sash. The second floor has 4/4 sashes flanking a central 3/3 sash.
On the ground floor, there are two canted bay windows with a combination of 4/4, 6/6, and 4/4 sashes, topped with dentilled cornices and pitched leaded roofs. These bays flank a central doorcase that has a Classical architrave supported by three-quarter Doric columns and an open pediment. The doorcase also features a Gothick-traceried fanlight above a six-panel door, with a stone step that has a nosing. To the left, there is a rendered plinth with a cellar grille.
The interior has not been inspected.
