Description
House, dating from the late 17th century with alterations in the late 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with a stone slate roof. The building comprises a main range aligned north/south, with a wing projecting to the east. The east wall of the main range has a canted bay window on a stone base, with a slated canopy extending over the doorway to the left. The first-floor window is a sash window with glazing bars and plain reveals. The doorway has a re-dressed chamfered surround with a Tudor-arched head. Breaks in the stone coursing on the gable wall of the wing suggest a reconstruction. The north wall of the wing has a timber casement window with leaded glazing on the ground floor and an attic dormer. Chimneys are located to the right of the main range and on the gable of the wing. The south wall of the wing has a one-light rebated and chamfered window to the right of a door, and an enlarged window to the left, also within a rebated and chamfered surround. The gable of the main range to the left has a doorway on the ground floor within a rebated and chamfered window with a hood. Above this is a window with plain reveals and hood. The attic has a three-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window. Inside, the north room of the main range has a stone fireplace with a chamfered surround and canted head, partly reconstructed in the 20th century. It contains a chamfered main beam with lamb's tongue stops. The wing has an inglenook fireplace with a bressummer and bread oven. On the first floor, a partition wall between the main range and wing is framed in square panels. The attic of the main range features exposed oak purlins and trusses truncated at collar level.
