Description
This is a barn, granary, and shelter shed built in the mid-18th century, located about 25 yards northeast of Hill Farmhouse. The structures are made of brick and feature dentilled eaves cornices and plain tiled roofs. The layout is in an L-shape, with a three-bay barn oriented north to south, a three-bay granary at the south gable end, and a five-bay shelter shed attached to the north end of the west elevation.
The barn includes a central wagon bay with opposed cart entries that have cambered heads, and the walls feature header ventilation courses. The granary has a half-hipped roof at the south gable end and consists of two levels: the lower level is open for cart storage, while the upper level is supported by intermediate square piers with bullnosed corners. The central bay of the granary has a gabled dormer with a two-light window on both the west and east elevations. Access to the granary is via sandstone and brick steps leading up to the entrance at the south gable end. Together, these buildings enclose the farmyard on the north side of Hill Farmhouse.
