Description

The Deakin Memorial is a chest tomb located about 15 metres north-west of the nave of the Church of St Michael. It dates from around 1820 to 1840 and is designed in the Greek Revival style. The tomb is made of ashlar and sits on a three-step base. It features deeply recessed inscription panels, with inverted torches at the corners on the long sides and tridents on the short sides. The tomb is topped with a pedimented cap. While most of the inscriptions are difficult to read, the name Mary Deakin is distinguishable.
