No 1 Merstow Green is a 16th-century building with a timber frame and painted cement exterior. It stands two storeys tall and features a slight overhang at the first floor. The building has two modern casement windows with glazing bars, plain eaves, and a gabled dormer that is obscured. The roof is covered with tiles, and there is a modern multi-paned shop front. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 7 (consecutive) and the Old Grammar School, along with Nos 16 and 17 Vine Street.
