Description
Stepps Cottage, Forge Cottage, and Wychwood are three houses located on Evesham Road, dating from the 17th century, with some early 19th-century and mid-20th-century alterations. The buildings feature a timber-frame construction with rendered and painted brick infill on a painted brick and coursed lias rubble plinth. Wychwood has a thatched roof, while the other two parts have machine tile roofs.
Wychwood is at the south end and consists of three bays, followed by Forge Cottage, which has two bays, and No 33, forming a cross-wing at the north end. No 33 has a central stack, while the others have gable-end stacks.
The east front of No 33 is two storeys high, featuring two 2-light casements on the first floor. The ground floor has three casements, with the leftmost one situated under a single storey catslide roof, which is lit by a gabled dormer in the attic. The entrance is located in the right-hand return wall. The framing consists of three square panels high with straight angle braces.
Forge Cottage is also two storeys tall with irregular fenestration and two casements, and its entrance is at the right-hand corner. Its framing has three square panels high, raised by an additional square panel.
Wychwood is one storey with an attic that is lit by a casement cut into the thatch. The ground floor features two 2-light casements, and the entrance has a ledged and boarded door with a plank weathering. Its framing consists of two large rectangular panels high.
