Description

No. 54 is a house located on the south side of Lowesmoor in Worcester, dating from the late 18th century, with later additions and alterations, including a 20th-century range at the rear. The building is constructed of pinkish-red brick in Flemish bond, featuring a concealed roof and a brick stack at the right end. It has three storeys above a basement and an attic, with three windows on the first floor.

The ground and first floors have 6/6 sash windows, while the second floor features 3/3 sash windows, all set in plain reveals and topped with flat arches made of gauged brick. The basement openings are concealed. The entrance is to the left, accessed by a flight of six roll-edged steps that curve, leading to a decorative panelled door with a fanlight that has radial glazing bars. The porch is supported by Doric columns and features an entablature and a modillion hood. There is a crowning band and a coped parapet at the top of the building. The basement has 4/4 Yorkshire sash windows.

On the right return, there are three first-floor windows. The first and second floors have blind windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor has a mix of 6/6 and 3/3 sash windows, all in plain reveals with sills and flat arches of gauged brick. The crowning band continues from the front facade, and the attic features a casement window. The gable end is curvilinear and stepped.

The interior has not been inspected. The property is complemented by subsidiary features, including spearhead area railings and a stick balustrade on the sides of the steps, which includes a wreathed handrail, as well as a lattice balustrade on the landing.
