Description
Chestnut House is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-20th century. It is constructed of brick with some render and features a plain tiled roof and a large stack at the rear. The building has two storeys and an attic, and is adorned with a dentilled eaves cornice. The façade consists of two plus one bays, with all windows being 16-pane 20th-century sashes that have cambered heads. The two-bay section includes the main entrance, which features a moulded flat canopy supported by slender turned posts, and a six-panelled door with raised and fielded panels surrounded by a moulded architrave. To the left, in the single-bay section beneath the continuous roof ridge, there is a window on both the ground and first floors, and to the left of the ground floor window is a 20th-century garage door. An attic light is located at the right gable end. The interior has not been inspected. It is noted that the single-bay section was once a shop, with the garage door now replacing the original shop front.
