Description
Northend Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a combination of timber-framing and brick, topped with a tile roof. The north front includes a two-storey cross-wing on the left, which is framed in four rows of square panels. This gable wall is partly covered by a single-storey lean-to addition. The exposed truss in this section has struts between the tie-beam and collar. To the right, the main range is one storey with an attic, featuring a wide casement window on the left and a gabled attic dormer above it. There is also a single-storey gabled addition further to the right. The roof line extends forward on the right to create an open canopy over two doorways and a window. There are chimneys located on the left-hand wall of the cross-wing and on the ridge in line with the gabled projection. Inside, the left-hand room of the main range has a blocked inglenook and two chamfered spine beams, although no wall framing is visible in this area.
