Description
The Flying Horse is a former coaching inn that has been converted into a house and shop. It dates from the 17th century and was partly remodeled in the early 19th century, with later additions to the rear. The building features a timber-framed structure with brick infill, some brick replacement walling, and a stone rubble plinth at the shop. It has tiled roofs and consists of a main range with three bays and a two-bay intersecting cross-wing that includes a large external stack and an outshut at the east gable end.
The main elevation is two storeys high and was refaced in brick in the early 19th century. The main part has two ground floor casements with cambered heads, two first floor glazing bar sashes, and a part-glazed 19th century door with a cambered head located next to the cross-wing. The cross-wing features a ground floor 16-pane sash and a first floor 4-pane sash, both with cambered heads. There is a brick chimney stack to the left of the main range ridge and an external stack on the rear east elevation of the cross-wing. The east wing has two structural bays and is single storey with a garret, featuring a ground floor casement and a central planked door.
