Description
The Talbot Hotel is a public house dating from the 17th century, with significant alterations and additions made over time. The building features a combination of timber framing with brick infill and sections that are entirely brick, topped with a tiled roof. It has an 'H-shape' plan, consisting of a central two-bay range and two intersecting cross-wings, with the lower wing likely added later, around 1900.
The hotel is two storeys tall and has been refaced in late 18th-century brick, complete with a dentilled eaves cornice. The façade displays a one:two:one bay arrangement, with large 20th-century cross casement windows, except for the ground floor of the left cross-wing, which features a 19th-century sash window with glazing bars. A large brick stack is positioned to the left of the central range, featuring four octagonal shafts and oversailing cap courses.
There is a central flat-roofed extension from around 1900 at the ground floor of the central range, which includes a Tudor-arched central doorway and an angled bay window. The interior has been extensively altered and refitted. Additionally, a late 19th-century building with rear extensions is attached to the north-west rear gable end.
