Description

This is a 17th-century outbuilding located about 45 yards northeast of Butts Farmhouse. It is timber-framed and weatherboarded, sitting on a plinth made of sandstone rubble and brick, with a tiled roof. The structure consists of two framed bays and is a single storey high. It features large square panels, with two extending from the sill to the wall-plate, and includes long straight braces at the gable ends and short straight braces in the upper end panels of both the front and rear elevations. There is a planked door located in the rear elevation and the southwest gable end. Inside, the building has end queen strut trusses, a central raking strut truss supported by knee-braces, and single trenched purlins. The floor is made of bricks.
