Description

Naunton Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick on a sandstone ashlar base, with a tiled roof, gable parapets, and end brick stacks. The left stack has paired diagonal shafts, and the right stack has six diagonal shafts, all topped with oversailing blue brick cap courses. The farmhouse has a modillion eaves cornice and a cellar.

The main part of the farmhouse is two storeys, with an attic, and comprises three bays. The central bay projects forward and features a pediment with modillion detail. All the windows have cambered heads; the outer bays have four-pane sashes with narrow, plain side sashes. The central bay has a four-pane sash window on the first floor, and below it, a mid-19th-century panelled door with a rectangular fanlight incorporating a central glazing bar. A timber-framed gabled porch provides shelter to the front door. The porch features pierced, scalloped bargeboards and a finial, scalloped eaves detail, chamfered uprights, arch-braces, and side rails with three elongated oval openings. Attic lights are found in the gable ends. The interior has not been inspected.

A two-storey rear wing has a dentilled eaves cornice and an external chimney to the left side elevation, featuring six tall diagonal shafts and an oversailing blue brick cap course. There are also two single-storey extensions located on the left side of the main house. Formerly part of the Dudley estate.
