Description
Crews Court is a former farmhouse, likely built in the early 17th century with later alterations. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered square and rectangular infill panels, a sandstone rubble plinth, and a shallow-pitched, hipped, tiled roof that probably replaced an earlier roof. The building has a large sandstone rubble chimney with two brick stacks flanking the ridge and an external brick stack at the rear. The layout is of a hall and cross-wing type, comprising a three-bay main range with a service bay, a cross passage, a "hall" area, and an adjoining two-bay cross-wing with back-to-back fireplaces. The house has two storeys and a cellar beneath the service bay, with casement windows throughout.
On the front elevation, the main section has two 20th-century ground floor windows and three 19th-century first floor windows, along with a central 20th-century timber porch featuring a hipped, tiled roof and a 20th-century timber door. The gable end of the cross-wing includes a 20th-century window and a glazed door, as well as a ground floor window situated in the angle with the main part. There is also a planked cellar door located in the west gable end.
