Description
This is a range of former barns located immediately northwest of Crews Court, which has been converted into houses. The barns date back to the 17th century and were converted in 1990-1991. They feature a box frame timber structure with rendered panels set on a stone rubble plinth, topped with a new plain tile roof that has gabled ends.
The building is a long range that includes a three-bay west end, likely added later in the 17th century. It stands two storeys high, although it was originally a single storey. The long range steps down the hill on the right (west) side. The north elevation, which faces the road, has a wagon entrance to the right of centre that has been infilled and partly glazed, along with roof lights on the right. The south elevation, which faces the former yard, is similar but features two dormers.
Inside, there are 20th-century floors, partitions, and stacks that have been inserted, but the timber framing remains exposed. This includes jowled wall posts and queen-post and queen-strut roof trusses, although much of the roof structure seems to have been replaced.
