Description

Badger Cottage is a house that likely dates back to around 1500, with additions from the 17th century. It features timber framing and a tile roof, arranged in an L-shape. The building is one storey high with an attic. The north wall of the 17th-century wing runs east to west and is framed in square panels. There is a window to the left of the door and another window to the right, both located under the eaves. The east wall of the main range, which runs north to south, is framed in irregular square panels and has one window, with a curved brace to its left. The ends of two inserted ceiling beams can be seen. There are chimneys on the east gable of the wing and the north gable of the main range. The latter gable wall features jowled principal posts and an attic window situated between the tie-beam and collar of the truss. The west wall of the main range has a ground floor window with an attic dormer above it. To the left, there is a gabled porch that covers steps leading down to a cellar, while to the right are 20th-century extensions.

Inside, a truss located to the south of the north wall of the main range is visible on the first floor. This truss has an arch-braced collar, although one brace has been removed, and it includes curved wind-braces. The other two trusses in this range are cruck trusses.
