LOWER SAPEY Harpley Farmhouse and barn, Margery Thorn Farm

(Formerly listed as Thorn Farmhouse and barn, LOWER SAPEY)

II Farmhouse and barn. C17 with C19 alterations. Timber-frame with brick infill, red brick and rubble extensions, plain tile roof; brick and rubble stack with oven to right gable and brick stack to front left corner of house. Two-bay barn to left, two-bay house to right. House: two storeys, two two-light casements, brick dentilled cornice above, ground floor has two windows under segmental heads, flanking central ledged door also under segmental head, this front replaces the framed wall; framing: three square panels to wall-plate with two queen struts to collar in roof. Barn: framing continuous with house, partially replaced in rubble on ground floor, weatherboarded; single storey rubble lean-to on main front. The whole front wall-plate was raised when the front of house was remodelled. Interior: house has range and racks over in right hand room. Single door at rear of cross-passage from barn into house.
