Description

This barn, located about 70 metres northeast of Burton Court, dates from the second half of the 18th century. It features a timber frame set on a rubble plinth, with weatherboarding and a corrugated iron roof. The structure consists of three structural bays with square panelled wall framing. The intermediate trusses include sawn-off tie-beams that tenon into posts, which extend from the first floor joist—secured with iron bolts—to the purlins. The principal rafters only extend to the purlin, while common rafters rise to the apex. The gable trusses are supported by collar and queen struts.
