Description
This is a detached barn dating from the 18th century, located opposite Burton Grange. It features a high limestone rubble plinth wall and a far gable wall on the east side, while the rest of the structure is a boarded timber frame topped with a half-hipped slate roof. The barn is oriented gable to the road, with a hipped porch on the south side that has a roof sweeping down to the left, and a gabled porch on the opposite side. Inside, there is a 5-bay layout supported by queen post trusses with jowled main posts and heavy studding. The roof includes two purlins and wind-braces in the centre bay, and the threshing floor is made from heavy wooden baulks.
