Description
This building is a barn, stable, and cow house located about 20 yards northeast of Lower Doddenhill Farmhouse. It dates from the mid-19th century and has undergone later additions and alterations. The structure is made of brick and features a dentilled eaves cornice with plain tiled roofs.
The barn consists of five bays arranged in a north/south orientation, with an additional stable bay at the north end. It includes a central wagon bay and opposing cart entries, both with cambered heads. The outer bays are defined by recessed panels that have cambered heads and are filled with a stretcher ventilation bond. The stable has a door leading into the yard on the west side and header ventilation courses at loft level.
Adjoining the west elevation of the stable is the cow house, which is a single storey with a dentilled eaves cornice. It has six bays, featuring three windows and two doors, all with cambered heads. Together, the barn and cow house create an enclosure for the farmyard to the north and east of Lower Doddenhill Farmhouse, and they are noted for their group value.
