Description

A row of houses dating to the 17th century, substantially refronted in the early 19th century, with later 20th-century alterations. The building is timber-framed with brick infill, and has been painted brick refacing and replacement walling. It features a plain tiled roof with a brick stack along the main ridge and additional brick stacks at the rear. The row extends five bays, aligned north/south. The houses are two storeys high, with a dentilled eaves cornice. The framing consists of three panels from the sill to the wall plate. A collar and tie-beam truss with three struts to the collar and a V-strut above is visible at the north gable end. The east front features two multi-paned bow windows with an entablature and flanking pilasters, and a similar oriel window on the ground floor. Also present are a 12-paned sash window and a 20th-century multi-paned window, both with cambered heads. The first floor has five 9-pane sashes, also with cambered heads. The main entrance is sheltered by a flat canopy supported by shaped brackets, with a ledged and battened door. A 20th-century garage door is set within a cambered archway at the south end of the row.
