Description

Shoulton Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with 20th-century additions and alterations. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill, some replacement brick walling, and a tiled roof. A central brick ridge stack features a two-course band. The cottage has two framed bays, with a lobby entrance on the west-facing front elevation. It is two storeys high, exhibiting square-panelled framing with four panels from sill to wall-plate. The south gable end has long straight braces in the lower corners and short straight braces with queen strut trusses in the upper corners. The front elevation includes two ground-floor casement windows, three first-floor casement windows, and a central 20th-century part-glazed door with a gabled canopy supported by console brackets. The interior was not inspected. A flat-roofed extension was added at the south gable end in the 20th century.
