Description
Wightwick Mill Lock and Bridge No 58 is a lock and bridge structure located on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, built around 1770 by engineers Brindley, Simcock, and Dadford. The construction is primarily of brick with ashlar dressings. The bridge features a segmental arch with ashlar jambs and an extension to the southwest. An oval plate on the bridge displays the lettering: WIGHTWICK MILL/ NO 58/ BRIDGE. The lock is designed with a single upper gate and double lower gates, making it one of Brindley's earliest locks.
