Description
The Old Manor House, located to the north of Wightwick Manor, is a house that has been converted into a bookshop and pottery. It was originally built for the Wightwick family and later restored for Theodore Mander. The house dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It features roughcast walls with brick dressings and a tiled roof with brick stacks. The building has a double-depth plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range.
On the left side, there is a two-storey gabled porch, while the right end is recessed and gabled. The house has quoins and coped gables, and the windows are fitted with brick mullions and transoms, arranged in groups of two and five lights. The porch includes a panel displaying the Wightwick arms above a segmental arched entrance, which has a wide-boarded door. The returns and rear of the building are similar in style, and there are some wooden-mullioned attic windows.
Inside, the house features re-used chamfered beams and some timber-framed interior walls. The building has been restored as part of the setting for Wightwick Manor.
