Description
The stable buildings and attached walls located to the north of Wightwick Manor date from the 18th century and were restored in the late 19th century for Theodore Mander. The structures are built of brick, featuring tile hanging and tile roofs, and are arranged in an L-shape, with a single storey. The north wing contains stables and loose boxes, characterized by segmental-headed entrances and small-paned windows. The south wing has a tile-hung first floor with similar entrances and windows, along with a gabled pitching hole to the left of the garage doors and a louvre. At the south end, there is an inset drinking fountain with a round-headed niche, adorned with a rich surround and mask, which was originally removed from the Market Hall that was demolished in 1961.
Inside, there are some late 19th-century stable fittings and a tack room. A wall extending approximately 20 meters to the east connects this structure to a garage and garden seat, which dates from the mid to late 19th century and is made of brick with half round blue brick coping and paired gates with plain brick piers. Another wall extends about 20 meters to the south, leading to a gate pier at the main entrance; this wall is also late 19th century, constructed of brick with red brick coping and paired gates at the north end, supported by plain brick piers.
