Description

The Old Windmill is a brick tower mill, dating to 1720, that has been converted into a house. Later alterations were made, along with 20th-century additions. The building features a conical tower topped with a pyramidal roof. It has varied window openings; some are small-paned casements, and one is a 16-pane horned sash window. A rear porch with a hipped roof has been added. A single-storey flat-roofed addition is located to the south. The brickwork above the sash window is inscribed with the words “THIS MILL WAS / BUILT BY IOHN / CHAMBERLIN / 1720,” with the “N’s” reversed. A plaque records the presentation of the mill to Tettenhall Urban District Council in 1949 by G. le M.Mander.
