Description

House. Dating to the 1820s, this is a brick building with ashlar dressings and a slate and tile roof, topped by brick end stacks. It is two storeys high, with a symmetrical facade of three windows, alongside a rear service wing. The building has a top cornice and coped gables. The windows are characterised by friezes and consoled cornices; at the time of resurvey in 1990, they were boarded. A round-headed entrance features flat pilasters, an open pediment, a fanlight, and a 6-fielded-panel door. Paired brick stacks are set across the ridge. The sill of the centre first-floor window is inscribed “Hatherleigh”. The building to the rear of No.10, connected by a later wall and possibly once a brewery or workshop, is not included in the listing.
