Description

695-697 Warwick Road in Solihull is a terrace of office and shop premises originally built in the late 18th century as housing and later converted into shops with accommodation above. The buildings are constructed of red, hand-made brick laid in Flemish bond, topped with a plain tiled roof.

The terrace consists of two storeys with an attic. The front features a cogged band at the eaves level. No. 695 has a raised band between the floors and windows at first-floor level with cambered heads. On the ground floor, No. 695 has a 20th-century glazed door to the left, accompanied by a projecting hood supported on shaped wooden brackets. To the right is an early 19th-century bowed shop window. No. 697 features a projecting square shop window with a hood that has a moulded front edge, which extends over the doorway. The doorway has a glazed door and moulded frame, both of which appear to be 20th-century replacements, with shaped brackets supporting the hood. The roof is adorned with four gabled casement dormers. The rear of both properties has been extended in a Neo-Georgian style after 1976, featuring sash windows with cambered heads. The right flank of the terrace adjoins No. 699 Warwick Road, which is also listed as Grade II.
