Description
No 126 on High Street, sometimes referred to as The Manor House, is a Grade II* listed building. It was once owned by the Greswolde family, who were local landlords. The building dates back to the 15th century and features a close set timber frame with two large gables and two smaller central gables, all of which oversail. The roof is covered with old tiles and has a taller central ridge, likely indicating the original extent of the hall. The building is now two storeys high, with lattice casement windows on the first floor. The ground floor has been under-built in the 18th century using red brick, and it includes sash windows and a two-panel door.
No 126 is part of a group that includes Nos 116 to 120 (even), 124, 130, 154, 158, 140, 142, and 144.
