Description
Nos 2 and 4 The Square is a building dating from the 16th century, located on the west side of The Square in Solihull. It features a close set timber framework that has been partly refaced in the 18th century with red brick. The roofs are covered with machine tiles and old tiles, and there are tall red brick chimneystacks with painted arched panels. The building has two storeys and is adorned with sash windows that include glazing bars, while the ground floor windows are three-light. The doorways are framed by panelled Doric pilasters and have entablatures with cornice hoods. Number 2 includes a 17th-century back wing that is timber framed with red brick nogging, while number 4 displays close studding on the first-floor back elevation. Nos 2 to 6 (even) and No 158 Solihull High Street form a group.
