Description

No. 54 Newhall Street is a building dating from around 1900. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a tiled roof. The structure consists of three storeys, a basement, and an attic, with two bays. The ground floor has a central porch with blocked Tuscan columns and a segmental pediment, flanked by two triplets of narrow arched windows. The first floor is marked by two canted bay windows, with pilasters on the left and right sides of the ground and first floors, as well as at the center of the first floor, supporting a thin entablature that gives the appearance of the ground and first floors being set back within the wall surface. The second floor contains two tripartite windows, and there is a boldly bracketed eaves cornice. The roof features two 4-light pedimented dormer windows.
