Description

Cornwall Buildings, located at 43 to 51 Newhall Street in the City Centre, is a late 19th-century structure made of brick and terracotta, topped with a slate roof. The building stands four storeys high and features four bays, with the outer two bays projecting forward and adorned with shaped gables. The inner two bays are taller and include a canted bay window that extends through the first and second floors, topped with Dutch gables. At the corner of the building, there is a polygonal turret topped with a small dome. The windows are sash style, with glazing bars present only in the upper sashes, except for the third floor where the treatment varies. The windows are framed with terracotta surrounds, and there is a flat-topped dormer window in the roof between the gables.
