Description
The Dorman Smith Switchgear Limited Midland Regional Office, located at numbers 204 and 206 Newhall Street in the City Centre, dates from approximately 1900. The building is constructed of red brick with terracotta dressings and facings to the ground floor. It is three storeys high and features two gabled bays with a slate roof. The ground floor has a door, two windows, and a recessed door, all within simple openings with quadrant upper corners. An oversailing cornice runs along the top of the building. The first floor incorporates four windows arranged in a rhythm of two groups of two, set within brick frames and featuring stone keystones. The second floor has two large, semi-circular windows. Nearly all windows retain their original glazing bars. The building also features three characteristic rainwater heads.
