Description
No. 17 Highfield Road is a two-storey detached villa built around 1840-1850, located in Edgbaston, Birmingham. The villa features three broadly spaced bays and is faced with stucco. It has a plinth and a grooved ground floor that extends up to the first-floor sill course. The shallow flat eaves of the hipped slate roof are adorned with a bed mould, and there are stucco chimneys.
The ground floor has sash windows with architrave surrounds that extend down to the plinth, while the first floor has similar windows, with the central window featuring an eared architrave. The entrance is marked by a Tuscan pilaster doorway, which has an entablature with a dentil cornice and a blocking course. The double panelled doors are complemented by a marginal glazed rectangular fanlight. The villa is adjacent to the washhouse of No. 16.
