Description
The Church of St Bartholomew, located on Church Road in Edgbaston, is a Grade II listed building. It has a consistent Perpendicular style but primarily dates from the 17th and 19th centuries, with significant work in the latter. The tower features diagonal buttresses and has early 16th-century elements in its lower sections, while the upper parts are likely from the 17th century. The north aisle, probably built in the late 15th century, includes a two-light Perpendicular window and a gabled stone porch from the 17th century. The south aisle was constructed in 1856 by F W Fiddian. The chancel and chapels were added between 1885 and 1886, with the under south aisle completed in 1889, all designed by J A Chatwin. Inside, there are three uniform arcades, all seemingly from the 19th century, along with a notable collection of minor 18th and early 19th-century wall tablets, including one by King and Sons of Bath and several by William Hollins of Birmingham.
