Description
The buildings at 57 and 58 Lee Crescent are a pair of red brick houses dating from around 1840 to 1845. They are part of an irregular terrace of houses numbered 50 to 58. The fronts are symmetrical, with two stories and two bays each, and feature a coupled doorway in the centre. A band runs along the eaves, and the roof is slate-covered, with corniced brick chimney stacks, particularly tall on the right. The windows are relatively narrow, with three-by-four pane sashes, set within flat, gauged brick arches and stucco sills. Coupled doorways have engaged, slender Tuscan columns supporting a deep, stilted entablature and common cornice. The doors themselves are made of six moulded and fielded panels, each with a rectangular fanlight featuring marginal glazing, set within panelled reveals. Tunnel passage entrances are located at each end of the elevation, both with gauged rubbed brick arches.
