Description

Number 47 on Woodbridge Road, built around 1851, was originally a school and schoolmaster's house, but is now divided into two houses. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with gauged brick dressings and features a Welsh slate roof that is hipped on the Woodbridge Road side and gabled on the other sides, with brick ridge stacks.

The front elevation facing Woodbridge Road is two stories high and has four windows. It includes a semi-circular arch over a six-panel door with a plain fanlight, all set within a moulded architrave and panelled reveals. Above the twelve-pane sash windows, there are flat brick arches, and a moulded wood cornice adorns the top.

The elevation on Church Road is similar, with three bays and a semi-circular arched entry to a porch that is set back to the right. The rear of the Church Road elevation features a double-gabled range with a dentilled cornice and segmental-arched windows. The interiors have not been inspected. Originally, number 47 served as the schoolmaster's house and was connected by a doorway to the boarding school, which is now number 106 Church Road.
