Description

The Ice House is a late 18th-century brick structure located in Moseley Park, Birmingham. It is a subterranean building situated beneath a slight earth mound. The ice house features a domed brick chamber that is approximately 16 feet deep and 12 feet in diameter, although it is partly infilled. There is a brick segmental vaulted entrance passage that includes a right-angle bend, with the outer doorway designed to accommodate a door. Inside the passage, there are jambs for additional doors. The chamber is constructed at least partly of cavity brick.
