Description
The Lock Keepers Toll Office at the head of Farmers Bridge Locks dates from around 1789 to 1800, coinciding with the opening of the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, or possibly from the early 19th century when the roving bridge was built. This single-storey building features a canted front facing the towpath and is constructed of red brick with gault-brick dressings. It has a hipped slate roof and the structure descends through three storeys at the rear, which is against a retaining wall of the canal. The building has revealed glazing bar sash windows.
