Description
Nos 43 and 45 George Street West are a pair of semi-detached villas built between 1830 and 1840. They are modest in design and symmetrical, featuring a two-bay main block with recessed entrance bays on either side. The buildings are two stories tall and are finished in stucco, with a plinth and a first-floor sill band. The first floor is framed by pilaster strips that align with the frieze. The hipped slate roof has overhanging eaves, and the entrance bays have lower gable end slate roofs. The windows are sash style with mid-19th century glazing. Each entrance bay includes a small first-floor window, while the ground floor features a narrow round-arched vestibule light. The passage door is located to the left, with the main entrance to the right. The doors are framed with revealed simplified pilaster frames and have an archivolt above a radial and swagged glazed fanlight.
