Description
This is a mid-17th century farmhouse, originally with alterations made in the early to mid-19th century by the Calthorpe Estate, and subsequently divided into two separate dwellings. The building has an L-shaped layout and is one and a half storeys high. Number 6 is constructed of painted brick, while Number 7 is rendered but was originally timber-framed. The roofs are tiled, and there are brick chimney stacks with coupled or quadrupled shafts. Number 6 features a gabled end bay, and there is a gable over the centre of the south range. It has lattice casement windows and gabled half-dormers. Number 6 includes brick drip moulds and a large gabled hood supported by brackets, topped with a finial, over a plain doorway. Later fenestration is visible on the ground floor of Number 7, along with a modern porch. Inside, the ground floor retains exposed stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
