Description

10 Ampton Road is a Grade II listed detached Tudor-Gothic villa, built in 1860, located in Edgbaston, B15. The villa is two storeys high with an attic, constructed of red brick featuring sandstone dressings. It has a two-bay front, with the right bay being broader and projecting forward, topped with a gable that has a bargeboard and finial. The left bay has a smaller gable above the first-floor window, which breaks through the eaves. The steep gable end roofs are covered with slate, showcasing bands of shaped slates and fleur de lys ridge tiles. The chimney stacks are adorned with weathered stone caps and octagonal brick shafts, while the building features flush stone quoins and window dressings.

The windows include two or three-light stone mullioned and transomed designs, complete with drip moulds on carved stops. The ground floor of the right bay features a canted stone-dressed bay window with an inscribed quatrefoil panelled parapet. The left ground floor has a tripartite window with a taller centre light, and its drip mould is carried up and over with a motto scroll. There is a recessed side wing that includes a two-storey faced canted porch with a crenellated parapet, and the window above the four-centred arch doorway has carved head stops to its drip mould, along with panelled spandrels. The attached coach house is designed in the same style, featuring bargeboards and overhanging eaves.
