Description
17 Ampton Road is a two-storey, three-bay villa built around 1850-1855, constructed of stucco. It features a low two-bay service wing and a gabled coach house. The tall elevation includes a plinth, a sill course, a bed mould to the frieze, and modillion brackets beneath the boxed eaves. The roof is gabled and covered with slate, with corniced chimneys on either side.
The first floor has sash windows framed with architraves, with the central window featuring a shouldered frame and an egg and dart cornice. The ground floor windows have similar shouldered surrounds, and all windows have tripartite glazing. An enclosed rusticated porch has coupled elongated consoles at the corners that support the cornice, and there is an archivolt-arched entrance. A screen wall in front of the service wing connects to the west gabled coach house.
