Description

STONELEIGH 6/279 Stoneleigh Grange -

Circa C18 red brick house L shaped in plan, extended in early C19 red brick with cross wing at west end forming U-shaped plan. Steeply pitched plain tile roofs. The older eastern portion is of three storeys. gabled at south, hipped at north. In south gable end at ground floor 4-light mullion/transom window with glazing bars in segmental arched opening. At first floor flat brick arch with sash window and glazing bars. At second floor a 2-light casement with glazing bars under cambered brick arch. The newer portion is of two storeys, the south gable end has at ground floor a canted bay window with sashes and glazing bars. At first floor a flat brick arch with sash window and glazing bars. The west elevation of this later cross wing is three bays wide; the central slightly projecting rendered bay contains entrance arch with recessed six panel door and fanlight. Above door is sash window with glazing bars. To left and right of central bay, at ground and first floors are sash windows with glazing bars and flat brick arches. Three groups of late C19 diagonally placed red brick chimney shafts.
