Description
Stoneleigh Grange is a red brick house dating from around the 18th century, with an L-shaped plan. It was extended in the early 19th century with a red brick cross wing at the west end, forming a U-shaped plan. The house features steeply pitched plain tile roofs. The older eastern section has three storeys, with a gabled south end and a hipped north end. On the ground floor of the south gable, there is a 4-light mullion and transom window with glazing bars set in a segmental arched opening. The first floor has a flat brick arch with a sash window and glazing bars, while the second floor features a 2-light casement with glazing bars beneath a cambered brick arch.
The newer portion is two storeys high, with a canted bay window with sashes and glazing bars on the ground floor of the south gable end. The first floor has a flat brick arch with a sash window and glazing bars. The west elevation of the cross wing is three bays wide, with a central slightly projecting rendered bay that contains an entrance arch with a recessed six-panel door and fanlight. Above the door is a sash window with glazing bars. To the left and right of the central bay, there are sash windows with glazing bars and flat brick arches on both the ground and first floors. The house is topped with three groups of late 19th-century diagonally placed red brick chimney shafts.
