Description
Standford Hall is a large red brick house that dates back to the 17th century, with a rear wing that was extended in the 18th century when the east front was built. The building features a plain tile roof with a gabled north end and a hipped south end, along with a moulded stone parapet and cornice. It has two storeys and an attic, with the east front comprising nine bays. The windows are sashes with glazing bars set in segmental arch openings, some of which are blind. The central doorway is also segmental arched and includes a fanlight and a later glazed door. There are five gabled dormers and a large brick chimney stack that is off centre, as well as a modern end stack. On the left-hand return (south), there are two storeys with five bays, a brick stringcourse, a mid-19th century ground floor bay, and a Victorian wooden porch. Inside, the staircase at the south end features a top stage from the 17th century with slat balusters, a moulded handrail and string, and square newels, while the bottom stage is from the early 19th century. The south end also has stopped chamfered ceiling beams.
