Description

House, now offices and flats, built around 1833, with later additions and alterations including work from around 1960. The exterior is of reddish-brown brick with stucco to the front and side elevations, with the front painted, and has a Welsh slate roof with a cast-iron balcony.

The building is three storeys high with a basement and attic, featuring two first-floor windows; the left bay projects to its full height. The first floor has a tall 2/2 sash window with sidelights in plain reveals on the left side. To the right is a moulded first-floor band, and a narrower, similarly styled sash in plain reveals. A moulded cornice on the left serves as the second-floor sill band, above which are two 6/6 sash windows in plain reveals. A frieze, cornice, and blocking course are visible on the left. The ground floor has a tripartite window, with a tall 2/2 sash with sidelights in the center, flanked by narrower 2/2 sashes in plain reveals.

The entrance is on the right, leading to a 3-fielded-panel, part-glazed door with overlight, set within a porch with Doric pillars, a frieze, and a cornice. The basement has a 4/8 sash window and two inserted casements. There are attic dormers, and an end stack.

Ironwork features a ground floor balcony to the left with a heart-and-anthemion motif, and a similar balcony to the left on the first floor, plus another balcony above the porch.

The interior includes original fireplaces and an openwell staircase with stick balusters.

Holly Walk, which was formerly part of the grounds of Newbold Comyn, became a public thoroughfare in the early 1820s and was laid out for building around 1833.
