Description

This building, originally a public house and now a house, dates to circa 1826, with later additions and alterations including a late 19th-century single-storey range to the left return. It is constructed of reddish-brown brick, partly whitewashed and rendered, with ashlar dressings, and has Welsh slate and plain-tile roofs.

The main range is three storeys high, with three first-floor windows. The first and second floors have blind central windows, while the first floor features 6/6 sash windows and the second floor has 3/6 sashes. The ground floor has a central entrance with a part-glazed and panelled door set within a doorcase featuring Tuscan pilasters, a frieze, and a hood. The end stacks have cornices. To the left, a two-storey range has two boarded and bricked-in basket-arched openings, separated by a Tuscan column supporting a hollow-chamfered arch with a keystone and imposts, and a full-height pilaster on the left. The hip roof has a raised central section. The Clarendon Street facade features a double-chamfered, moulded plinth and end pilasters with a projecting centre. Two recessed entrances have 6-panel double doors with basket-arched overlights, now boarded over; the reveals are flanked by Tuscan pilaster strips, and a cambered arch features a central keystone and imposts. Tall basket-arched window openings are located between the entrances, now boarded in and with Tuscan pilasters. A moulded cornice tops the facade.

The interior has not been inspected.

The building operated as the King's Arms Inn in 1829, and Warwick Street was laid out between 1822 and 1826.
